Husky Softball Well Represented In Canada

SEATTLE -Softball Canada is pleased to announce the list of players who will represent the Canada’s Women’s National Team at the ISF XIII Women’s World Championship, which will take place from July 13-22 at the Pepsi Softball Center in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. The tournament will feature sixteen (16) countries that will be competing for the title of World Champions. Canada’s roster will feature 11 players returning from the Bronze medal winning team at the 2010 ISF XII Women’s World Championship in Caracas, Venezuela, as well as six players who competed at the 2011 ISF IX Junior Women’s World Championship, which took place in Cape Town, South Africa last December. On this team are two former Huskies, a current Husky and a 2012 incoming freshman. Jenn Salling and Danielle Lawrie, who have played with Team Canada in the past, will wear their countries colors once again after spending most of this summer with the USSSA Pride in the National Pro Fastpitch League in Florida. Jocelyn Cater will be a freshman at UW in 2012-13 and Victoria Hayward just finished her sophomore season with the Huskies. Both have been playing with the Canadian National Team the entire summer and with the junior and senior national teams last year. Team Canada recently finished fourth in the World Cup of Softball that ended July 2 and is currently playing in the Canadian Open Fastpitch.
