Huskies 14th In Final Polls
June 12, 2012
SEATTLE - The final collegiate softball polls were released Tuesday and both the NFCA and the ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll listed UW at No. 14 to end the season. The Huskies were No. 12/14 in the preseason polls so they ended right where the voters predicted. UW was ranked as high as No. 3 by both polls for a total of five weeks. At the end of the regular season UW went into the NCAA Tournament ranked No. 18 but the No. 16 overall seed. In the 15 polls on the year, the Huskies were in the top 10 in 10 of those. Alabama ranked first in both polls after winning its first national championship and being the only team to amass 60 wins on the season. Runner-up Oklahoma finished in second followed by Cal, Arizona State, Oregon, Tennessee, LSU, USF, Texas and Georgia to round out the top 10 by the NFCA. The ESPN.com/USA Softball Poll had Louisiana-Lafayette in its top 10 instead of Texas. In all, seven Pac-12 teams ended the season ranked in both polls and Oregon State received votes by both. |
