Inglesby Invited To WNT Selection Camp

OKLAHOMA CITY - The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) announced additional invitees to the USA Softball Women's National Team Selection Camp. With 12 athletes already named to the National Team roster, Washington sophomore pitcher Kaitlin Inglesby will go up against 21 additional invitees to vie for the five remaining spots. Inglesby will join the ranks of some present and former Huskies named to the Selection Camp, including senior Nikia Williams, junior Shawna Wright, and alum infielder Ashley Charters. Charters made the final roster in 2009 and 2010. Inglesby, after winning a myriad of accolades this season including third-team All-American, Pac-12 All Conference, and USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week, will head to Ashland, Ohio, June 10-12 for tryouts. A total of 17 athletes will be selected to the USA Softball roster, and the remaining athletes who are not selected will make up the 2012 USA Softball Women's Elite National Team. The two teams will face each other in exhibition play. The final roster will be announced Wednesday, June 13. The team will compete in six different events throughout June and July, including four in the United States and two in Canada. Fans in the United States will get four opportunities to see the team in action with two exhibition stops scheduled as well as the Title IX 40th Anniversary Celebration Game against Canada on June 23 and the World Cup of Softball VII presented by Lumber Liquidators, June 27- July 2, in Oklahoma City. Following the World Cup, the Women's National Team is slated to compete July 4-9 at the Canadian Open Fast Pitch International Championship in Surrey, B.C., Canada, and July 13-22 at the International Softball Federation (ISF) Women's World Championship in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada.
