UW's Spediacci, Hauxhurst Earn Academic Honors
May 11, 2000 SEATTLE - Washington softball standouts Kelly Hauxhurst and Jennifer Spediacci earned a spot on the GTE Academic All-District VIII softball team as selected by CoSIDA. Eleven female student-athletes representing eight different NCAA Division I institutions were honored. Hauxhurst, a junior left fielder, has a 3.38 cumulative grade-point average in speech communications. She sports a .313 batting average from the No. 2 slot, scoring 48 runs and knocking in 22 RBI this season. Hauxhurst has a .976 fielding percentage, committing just one error all season. Spediacci, a senior pitcher, turned in a 3.22 cumulative grade-point average in business. She has set numerous UW records in her career and continues to add to her numbers, including strikeouts in a season (262) and career (840), wins in a season (30) and career (96), and lowest ERA in a season (0.62) and career (1.11). |
