April 29, 2001 SEATTLE - After one, three and a half hour rain delay and little over two innings of action Sunday, the Washington-California Pac-10 softball game was postponed until Monday, April 30, beginning at 1 p.m. The game was originally scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday, but was postponed by rain until 4:35 p.m. The Huskies got on the board quickly, scoring a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning when freshman Rita Roach (Norwalk, Calif.) singled and then scored on a RBI-single by sophomore Jaime Clark (Tustin, Calif.). UW senior Kelly Hauxhurst (Westminster, Calif.), who reached base on a double, then scored when California tried to make a play at second on Clark, who tagged up on a foul-out by Kim DePaul (Tomball, Texas). California got one run back in the top of the third when shortstop Paige Bowie singled with two outs to drive in Mikella Pedretti. The Golden Bears had the bases loaded with clean-up hitter Veronica Nelson coming to the plate before the game was halted. |
