Huskies Welcome Ohio For 2013 Home Opener
March 5, 2013
SEATTLE - Before their annual home softball tournament, the Husky Softball Classic, scheduled for this weekend, the Huskies added a late game to their schedule. The No. 19/16 Huskies will host Ohio on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Husky Softball Stadium. Because the game was a late addition to the schedule, it will be free for all fans. The Huskies are 14-5 on the year and on a nine-game winning streak dating back to Feb. 17. Last week, the UW went 4-0 at the Colorado State Tournament with wins over Brown, Bradley, Nebraska-Omaha and Colorado State. The Bobcats are 11-3 on the season and 3-0 on the road. Lauren Gellerman leads the team with a .396 average, 19 hits, four doubles, two triples, five home runs and 23 RBI. The pitching has been spread out as Savannah Jo Dorsey is 5-1, Lauren McClary is 4-1 and Kaylin Clarke is 2-1. Last week, Ohio went 4-1 at the UTC Frost Classic with wins over North Carolina Central, Niagara, Boston College and Tennessee Tech. Ohio will play at Seattle U on Thursday before participating in the Husky Softball Classic over the weekend. These two teams met once, on Feb. 12, 2010 with the UW picking up the 4-3 victory. |
