Walker Named Pac-12 Pitcher Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Junior Bryana Walker earned her first Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week honor on Feb. 26 for her performance at the May Nutter Collegiate Classic in Cathedral City, Calif. The La Quinta, Calif., had an outstanding weekend in the circle just miles from her hometown as the Huskies went a perfect 4-0 for the first time on the season and has now won 5 games in a row. She went 3-0 on the weekend in 21.0 innings allowing just one earned run and one walk with 28 strikeouts and a 0.43 ERA with wins over No. 23/23 Florida State in a shutout and over No. 13/16 Georgia with no earned runs. In the first game against Virginia she allowed just one earned run with a career-high 12 strikeouts. In the 2-0 shutout vs. FSU she allowed just three hits with eight strikeouts. Washington handed Georgia its third-straight loss and defeated its highest ranked team of the season. In the complete game she allowed just four hits and no earned runs while striking out eight. On Monday she was named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week. Oregon State's Natalie Hampton was named the Pac-12 Player of the Week. Walker and the Huskies play a single game on Wednesday at Seattle U at 6 p.m. |
