USA Today/NFCA Top 25 Poll

SEATTLE - The Washington softball team, 13-1 and victors in its first three tournaments of the season, are ranked No. 1 in the first weekly USA Today/NFCA poll. The Huskies garnered 16 of 27 first-place votes to oust UCLA from the top spot in the preseason poll. Each of the eight Pac-10 schools were in the top 25, including five in the top 10-Washington (first), UCLA (second), Arizona (third), Arizona State (sixth), and California (eighth). Also ranked is Stanford (11th), Oregon State (12th) and Oregon (tied for 25th).

The Huskies have been ranked No. 1 three other weeks in program history, late during the 1996 season. Washington has been ranked in the top six in the nation the past 53 weeks, dating back to the first weekly poll in 1996 and has been in the top 25 since late in its inaugural year.
