Huskies down Sun Devils, 4-1. May 27, 1999
Washington Head Coach Teresa Wilson(Opening comments): Well, Pac-10 round two. It was an incredilble game. Kirstin (Voak) threw a great ball game for ASU, but I am really proud of our girls. We got a lot of runs in. Our team has been doing a great job adjusting to the game no matter how long it takes. We try to find a pattern. We knew that it was going to be a close game. They have great pitchers, and we have great pitchers. It has always been a close game historically.
(On changing pitchers early in the game): Jamie Graves wasn't getting the calls that we were used to. We found that the zones were not compatible so we switched. I have two really great pitchers. They really compliment each other. As a coach, I could not be lucjier with what I have to work with.
Washington junior Erin Helgeland(On why she has struggled this year, and on her two-RBI double): I'm just in a slump, I have been struggling a bit, but I just keep going at it and I knew it would pay off.
Washington junior Jennifer Spediacci(On whether the team's WCWS experience helped today): I think our World Series experience definitely helped. I don't think that we were pressing. We were pretty confident. I think having been in close games like this before definitely helped. |
