Beavers Take Game One From Huskies

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The No. 9/11 UW softball team took an early 3-1 lead over No. RV/24 Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., Friday in game one of the Pac-12 series, but a rough sixth inning for the Huskies gave the game to the Beavers, 4-3.
UW is now 35-10 overall and 6-9 in Pac-12 play while Oregon state improves to 28-14, 5-7.
After three innings, the score was 3-1 UW. The Huskies got one in the second and two in the third before the Beavers got their first run in the bottom of the third.
The two UW runs in the third were scored by senior Kimi Pohlman (Sammamish, Wash.) and sophomore Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.). Pohlman led off the inning by hitting a double. Hayward followed with a single and Pohlman scored on a wild pitch. Hayward scored on sacrifice fly to center by freshman Kimberlee Souza (Waialua, Hawai'i).
Oregon State rallied for three runs in the sixth to take the lead for good. The Beavers had no hits in the inning but scored all three runs on four Husky errors.
Sophomore Kaitlin Inglesby (Portland, Ore.) pitched 6.0 innings, allowing just one earned run on three hits. She is now 18-7 in the circle this year. Tina Andreana got the win for OSU and Paige Hall got the save.
The Huskies outhit the Beavers, 7-3. Pohlman and sophomore Hooch Fagaly (Chino, Calif.) led the team with two hits each.
