No. 3/3 Huskies Complete Pac-12 Sweep

SEATTLE - The Huskies did their job Sunday afternoon on a sunny day in Seattle, finishing up the three-game sweep in the Pac-12 opener vs. Utah, winning game three 3-1. The No. 3/3 Huskies outscored the Utes 14-3 on the weekend and improved to 32-1 and 3-0 in the Pac-12. Utah is now 21-8 overall and 0-3 in league play.
All runs in the game came in the first three innings with UW scoring twice in the first and once in the second and Utah getting its lone run in the third.
With one out in the first senior Kimi Pohlman (Sammamish, Wash.) doubled to center. Sophomore Kaitlin Inglesby (Portland, Ore.) hit her seventh home run of the season, a long shot to left field to put UW up 2-0.
Junior Shawna Wright (Lancaster, Calif.) reached on an error in the second. Sophomore Marki-Creger-Zier laid down a bunt single and sophomore Victoria Hayward (Mountain View, Calif.) singled to load the bases for Pohlman. Pohlman would walk on four pitches for the RBI.
With one out in the third, Utah strung together three straight hits to load the bases against Inglesby. A walk brought in the first and only Utah run of the game. Inglesby would get the next two putouts herself on balls hit back to the circle to end the inning. Inglesby was the starting pitcher, allowing one run on four hits in 3.0 innings.
Freshman Kasey Stanchek (El Dorado Hills, Calif.) entered to pitch in the fourth for UW and allowed just two hits, earning her second win of the weekend and ninth of the season.
Generra Nielson took the loss for Utah, falling to 15-6, allowing two earned runs on six hits.
UW heads to No. 2/2 Cal next weekend for a three-game Pac-12 series.
