UW managed just two hits in the opening five innings before getting on the scoreboard in the sixth. Sophomore Kim DePaul led off with a single and scored on senior Becky Newbry's subsequent double to center field. In the seventh with two outs, the Huskies scored another run and loaded the bases before the Blue Demons could make the final out. Junior Rosie Leutzinger reached first on a fielder's choice and stole second. Sophomore Kelly Hauxhurst singled to left center to move Leutzinger to third before DePaul's pitcher hit both DePaul and Newbry to score Leutzinger and load the bases.
