2009 (As A Junior)
Named the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and also took home the Honda Award for softball... Named the Women's College World Series Most Outstanding Player, going 5-1 with a 1.88 ERA with 49 strikeouts in 42.2 innings pitched while belting a home run and driving in five runs at the plate... First-team NFCA and ESPN All-American... Also named First Team All-Region and First-Team All-Pac-10 along with being named the Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year... Finished the season 42-8 with a 0.97 ERA and 521 strikeouts in 352.2 innings... Also had 21 shutouts, including two no-hitters and four one-hitters... Led the nation in wins and strikeouts while finishing third in shutouts and sixth in ERA... All four marks led the Pac-10... Her 521 strikeouts were one shy of the Pac-10 single-season record but did break her own school record... Also set UW single-season records for wins, shutouts, innings pitched, games started and complete games... Broke UW career records for strikeouts (1,365), shutouts (41), complete games (108) and innings pitched (888.1), while her 96 wins ranks second, just four shy of the record... Her 1,365 strikeouts rank fifth in Pac-10 history and 13th in NCAA history... Broke a UW single-game record when she struck out 24 batters in a 15-inning win over UMass in the NCAA Regionals... Had a streak of 64.1 consecutive scoreless innings and 90.0 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run early this season... Had a career-day in the clinching 7-0 win, throwing a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts while going 2-for-3 with two runs and four RBI, including a pair of two-run home runs for her first career multi-home run game... Went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in the first game of the series, a 7-1 UW win... Also struck out 10 and allowed just four hits... Broke the UW single-season strikeout record in the first game, surpassing her own mark of 457... Had one of the most memorable games in NCAA postseason history in the Regionals in Amherst, Mass., when she pitched 15 innings and threw 251 pitches while striking out 24 batters in UW's 6-1 win over UMass to advance to Super Regionals... The 24 strikeouts were a school record and were four shy of the NCAA single-game record and two shy of the Pac-10 record... She is one of 15 pitchers in NCAA history with 24+ Ks in a game and one of just three Pac-10 pitchers... Also had two hits in the game, including a two-run single in the 15th inning... Struck out Atlantic-10 Player of the Year Carly Normandin six times in the game... Struck out 12 and allowed just two hits in UW's Regional-opening 9-1 win over Sacred Heart... Ended the regular season by winning two games at home against Cal and Stanford, defeating then No. 2 Stanford, 7-0, for her 18th shutout, allowing just four hits and striking out 10... Also defeated Cal, 11-3, allowing just two hits and striking out 10... Won four games in a five-day span from April 29-May 3, including a no-hitter of UCLA (4/29), a one-hitter with 18 Ks against Oregon (5/3) and a two-hit shutout of Oregon (5/2)... She became the first pitcher since 1998 to no-hit the Bruins... Went over the 1,200 mark for career strikeouts against Oregon, becoming just the 25th pitcher in NCAA history to do so... Went on to be named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for a record-breaking sixth time... The 18 Ks against the Ducks matched a season-high at the time and was her seven-inning high... Defeated Arizona, the nation's No. 1 offense, for the second time this season when she allowed just four hits and struck out 13 in a 4-1 win on April 25 in Tucson... Won all three games in UW's sweep of the Oregon schools, throwing two shutouts, to earn her fifth Pac-10 POW honor... Threw a two-hit shutout against Oregon (4/17), striking out 11 and not allowing a hit until the sixth inning... Also hit her third home run of the season in the game... Came back the next day to pitch nine scoreless innings and strike out 13 in a 1-0 win against Oregon State (4/18).. Fired her first no-hitter of the season and third of her career against the nation's leading offense, striking out 12 in a 6-0 victory over No. 9 Arizona (4/3)... Became the first pitcher since 2000 to no-hit the Wildcats... Came back the next two days to shut down the nation's second-leading offense in Arizona State en route to her fourth Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week honor... Also contributed at the plate against the Arizona schools, going 4-for-8 with three RBI... Won all three of her games in the Judi Garman Classic against ranked teams, defeating No. 24 Florida State (4-1), No. 10 Michigan (1-0) and No. 21 Fresno State (3-0)... Struck out 18 batters and allowed just two hits and one walk in her 11 innings... Allowed just one hit and did not walk a batter against No. 10 Michigan, throwing just 85 pitches and striking out 13... Won her first three games in the Easton SEC/Pac-10/Big 12 all via shutout and all against ranked teams and was named to the All-Tournament team... Beat No. 24 Baylor, 1-0, striking out 10 Lady Bears... Threw back-to-back shutouts over No. 11 Georgia and No. 1/3 Alabama on March 7, limiting Georgia's high-powered offense to two hits in the 2-0 victory... Went over the 1,000 career strikeout mark in a 6-0 shutout of Alabama and is one of just two active pitchers with 1,000 Ks, joining Penna... Came back to shutout Alabama's equally powerful offense in front of over 3,000 fans, striking out eight and allowing four hits to snap the Tide's 23-game home winning streak... Won all three of UW's games in the Husky Softball Classic, including a two-hit six-inning shutout with 13 strikeouts against Seattle... Allowed just one hit in each of her starts against Portland State, striking out six in three innings on Feb. 28 and seven in five innings on March 1... Had an impressive weekend in the Cathedral City Classic, throwing three shutouts, two of which came in extra-inning games against ranked teams... Started the weekend with a nine-inning, two-hit shutout of No. 2 Florida (2/20) in which she struck out 12... Threw back-to-back shutouts against Nebraska and No. 23 Ohio State on Feb. 22.. Set what was then a season-high with 15 strikeouts against the Cornhuskers, which she then topped by striking out 16 in an eight-inning 1-0 victory over Ohio State the next game... Allowed a leadoff single in the first to Nebraska then retired the final 21 batters... Allowed just two hits to the Buckeyes... Also contributed with her bat in Palm Springs, going 2-for-4 with a run and a RBI... Belted her first home run of the season against Nebraska, a solo shot to right field... Was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week for her efforts and was also named the USA Softball National Player of the Week and the NFCA Player of the Week... Became Washington's all-time career leader in strikeouts at the Campbell Cartier Classic, passing Jennifer Spediacci with her 895th strikeout against San Diego State (2/14)... Was named Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week for the first time this season and fifth time in her career when she went 3-0 in the Campbell Cartier Classic, not allowing a run in 18.1 innings of work while striking out 28 batters and walking just one... Threw a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts against UC Santa Barbara then followed with a one-hit shutout of San Diego State with nine strikeouts... Had a strong opening weekend, going 3-0 with a 0.64 in four appearances... Pitched 22.0 innings - making three starts and one relief appearance, striking out 36 batters while allowing just two earned runs and eight hits... Struck out 12 batters twice over the weekend, first in a 4-2 win over Loyola Marymount (2/7) and again in a one-hit shutout of Utah (2/8)... Came within one out of her third career no-hitter against Utah, retiring 20 consecutive batters after allowing a walk in the first inning... Also struck out nine in the season-opening 2-1 win over No. 12 Tennessee.
2008 (Redshirt)
Danielle Lawrie sat out the 2008 season while competing for the Canadian National Team at the Olympic Games in Bejing, China.
Canadian National Team
One of 15 players selected to represent Canada in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China... Made three appearances and pitched 12 innings, including a complete-game against Venezuela in which she struck out nine... She allowed just two runs on four hits, but Canada was unable to give her any support, falling 2-0... Made her first appearance of the games and earned the victory in Canada's 9-2 win over the Netherlands... Lawrie struck out four in four innings of work while allowing just one run on two hits... In all, she struck out 13 batters in 12 innings in Beijing... Member of the Canadian National Team in 2005, `06, `07 and `08... Also spent one season on the Canadian Junior National team and one on the Developmental Team... Helped the national team qualify for the 2008 Olympic Games at the 2006 World Cup... In October of 2007 at the China Cup held in Beijing, helped the team to the Silver Medal as the Canadians won all three games she started... Finished the seven-day tournament with a 3-0 record and a team-best 1.29 ERA... Her 21 2/3 innings pitched and 18 strikeouts also led the team... Had her best performance of the China Cup against Australia, which had already defeated the Canadians twice in the tournament, pitching seven shutout innings while giving up just two hits and striking out three in leading the team to a 4-0 win... Threw a complete game shutout vs. Australia with seven strikeouts at the 2006 World Cup... Named Most Valuable Pitcher at the 2006 Canada Cup where the team won a silver medal... Threw 6.2 innings of relief vs. Netherlands, giving up just one run and striking out 13 batters... Tossed a complete game shutout with five strikeouts against Italy at the 2006 ISF World Championships... Earned the shutout victory over Chinese Taipei at the ISF World Championships with eight strikeouts... Beat Team USA at the 2005 World Cup, tossing a complete game and striking out seven.
