SEATTLE – Women’s soccer junior midfielder Kate Deines and senior defender Kendyl Pele were named Second-Team National Soccer Coaches Association of America Scholar All-Americans. These two Husky co-captains were among the 12 student-athletes from Division I honored on the Second-Team and were named to the All Far-West Region team last week. “This is another great honor for Kate and Kendyl,” said head coach Lesle Gallimore. “To be honored nationally for their academic and athletic performances is a testament to their dedication to both endeavors. I am proud to coach them and they epitomize the excellence that is UW.” Deines (Issaquah, Wash.) carries a 3.66 GPA in pre-social science. She was a Second-Team Pac-10 All-Academic selection this season and earned Honorable Mention her sophomore year. Athletically, Deines was named First-Team All-Pacific Region and First-Team All-Pac-10.
