Q & A with Tina Frimpong
Nov. 18, 2004
Senior forward Tina Frimpong scored two goals in the Huskies' 5-0 first-round win over Birmingham-Southern. She assisted on Kelley Schweighart's game-winning tally in the 1-0 second-round win over Auburn. Last week, the Pac-10 announced that Frimpong was the conference Player of the Year for the second straight season. She is the only player in Pac-10 history to win the award more than once.
Gohuskies.com: What are your thoughts on advancing to the third round of the NCAA Tournament? TF: "All of us are really excited. For me, this has never happened before in these four years, so this is a huge accomplishment. For all the seniors, we're just really excited and we want to keep getting after it and see how far we can go."
TF: "I hope so. That would be awesome for us to have that. Who knows? We're just focusing on the game that we have here this next weekend. We just want to make sure that we do our best to win."
TF: "All of us are ecstatic. We found out after the game that Maryland beat (higher seed) Penn State. It just made that win over Auburn feel even better. We've been on the road a lot this year, so to play this game at home is awesome."
TF: "We know that Maryland is a good team, so we are not underestimating that. We just really want to get out there and leave it all on the field. We're going to worry about ourselves and just give it our all."
TF: "It was an awesome feeling. I feel so blessed to play with this group of girls that made me the player that I am. It's a great accomplishment, but my team is accomplishing something so much bigger. I feel very humbled and thankful that I got that award. It's just an honor." |
