UW Women's Soccer Receives Academic Honor

SEATTLE -- Washington women's soccer was honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Monday for its work in the classroom. The Huskies were awarded the Team Academic Award along with several other teams from around the country. The award was given to all schools with a grade point average over 3.0, although the Huskies were given special recognition for being among the top 40 schools in combined GPA. Washington finished the 2011-12 academic year with a combined GPA of 3.48, which was the 29th best in the nation and tops in the Pac-12. In fact, Washington was the only school in the Pac-12 given the special recognition for being in the top 40 overall. The Dawgs just completed the 2012 season, which ended with at trip to the NCAA Tournament. After finishing 10-7-3, Washington lost to Auburn in the first round of the NCAA's. |
