Solo To Dance Three Times In Semifinals
Nov. 14, 2011
SEATTLE - Former Husky standout Hope Solo has advanced to the semifinals. Facing the challenge of completing two dances, Solo and her dancing partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy earned a season-high 27 points for their quickstep to Amy Winehouse's "Valerie" and then 25 points for their instant jive to Avril Lavigne's "The Best Damn Thing" to award them a total of 52 points from the judges, tied for second-best of the night. With only four couples remaining, Solo will get an even more difficult challenge with having to showcase three dances for Week 9. The pair will dance a Paso Doble to Miley Cyrus' "Can't be Tamed", an Argentine Tango to Gotan Project's "Whatever Lola Wants", and a Cha Cha Relay to Enrique Iglesias' "I Like the Way It Feels." DWTS' final four consists of Solo and Chmerkovskiy, J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff, Ricki Lake and Derek Hough, and Robert Kardashian and Cheryl Burke. HLN's legal analyst Nancy Grace was the eighth contestant to be eliminated. Her and dancing partner Tristan MacManus now join actor David Arquette and Kym Johnson, activist Chaz Bono and Lacey Schwimmer, reality TV personality Carson Kressley and Anna Trebunskaya, singer Chynna Phillips and Tony Dovolani, reality TV personality Kristin Cavallari and Mark Ballas, Italian model Elisabetta Canalis and Val Chmerkovskiy, and NBA star Ron Artest and Peta Mugatroyd.
