Hope Solo To Sign Her New Book At The UW-Oregon Match

SEATTLE - Two-time Olympic Gold Medalist and Husky legend Hope Solo returns to Seattle to sign her new book, "Solo: A Memoir of Hope" at the UW women's soccer game vs. Oregon at 7 p.m. on Oct. 25. Solo will sign from 5:45 p.m. - 6:45 p.m. on the hill at the soccer field. Books will be available for purchase at the game and sold by the Husky Bookstore. There are two versions of the book, the adult version for $25 and the young adult version for $17. The book was released on Aug. 14, 2012. Solo coauthored with sports columnist and commentator Ann Killion and published by Harper Collins. In her book she provided her accounts of incidents with former U.S. national coach Greg Ryan, and her Dancing with the Stars' partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. She recounted her integration into the U.S. team with established players like Mia Hamm, Brandi Chastain, and Julie Foudy. Hope also revealed details of her early life. The autobiography debut at No. 3 on the New York Times hardcover non-fiction best seller list, the highest ever for a soccer book. A Washington Husky from 1999-2002, Solo played for current Husky coaches Lesle Gallimore and Amy Griffin. Most recently, she helped the U.S. National Team to an Olympic Gold medal in London. She played for the Seattle Sounders Women's team this past spring and has been a member of the national team since she began with the U16 team in 1996. Solo won an Olympic gold also in 2008, won silver in the 2011 Women's World Cup, won a CONCACAF Women's Gold Cup in 2006, appeared in five Algarve Cups, three Four Nations Tournaments and was named the WPS Goalkeeper of the Year in 2009.
