Davidson Named Disney/NSCAA National POW

KANSAS CITY, Kan. - Washington senior goalkeeper Kari Davidson and Old Dominion junior forward Tim Hopkinson have been named Disney Soccer/NSCAA Players of the Week for their on-the-field success, Sept. 3-9. Davidson, a native of Portland, Ore., notched 11 saves and two shutouts against Gonzaga and Notre Dame last week. Against the Bulldogs, she faced 14 total shots and recorded seven saves in the 1-0 win. On Sunday in the 3-0 win against the Fighting Irish, she notched four saves on 17 total shots. Her efforts earned her Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week honors and she now sits at 7-0-0 on the season. Davidson also ranks in the top five in Washington's program history in saves, shutouts and goals-against average. Hopkinson was named MVP of the Classic and also earned a Colonial Athletic Association's Player of the Week award. The Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Players of the Week are announced every Wednesday. One male and one female player is selected by a committee from nominations submitted by NCAA Division I conferences. Winners will also be recognized during the NSCAA College Game of the Week broadcast on FOX Soccer. |
