Huskies Set To Face Sounders Women Friday

SEATTLE - The UW women's soccer team will face the Sounders Women at the Starfire Complex in Tukwila Friday May 4 in front of a sold out crowd.The 4,500 capacity stadium has been sold out for more than three weeks in anticipation for the 7:30 p.m. matchup. After opening more bleacher seating, the additional tickets lasted less than five minutes. UW will face many former Huskies including Hope Solo, Veronica Perez, and recent graduate Kate Deines. UW junior Lindsay Elston resigned with the Sounders Women for the 2012 season, but will play for the Huskies on Friday. The Sounders Women are coming off of a 5-0 victory against Seattle University. Former Husky Veronica Perez netted a goal in the second half to put the Sounders Women up 4-0. The Huskies met Seattle University twice in the spring season, winning 1-0 in the first game and tying 1-1 in the second. The highly anticipated matchup will showcase national team talent on both sides of the pitch. The exhibition game will give the UW women's team good practice to play Pac-12 opponent Oregon State the following day. Fans can still purchase standing room only tickets on Friday.
