Deines Named Second-Team Scholar All-American

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Senior women's soccer midfielder Kate Deines has done it again. She was recently one of three Pac-12 student-athletes to be named to the 2011 NSCAA Scholar All-American team.

Deines made the second team with a 3.73 GPA in communications for the second-straight season. She was also a two-time NSCAA West-Region academic selection.

During her senior season she was also named a Lowe's Senior CLASS Award Candidate, a Hermann Trophy Award Watch List member, First-Team All-Pacific Region, Second-Team All-Pac-12, Second-Team Academic All-Pac-12, Second-Team ESPN Academic All-District, named to the 20-Year All-UW Women's Soccer Team, Husky/Nike Invitational Offensive MVP and earned the 101 Club Scholar-Athlete and the Faith Awards at the team banquet.

In 2010 she earned the Provost Academic Excellence Award at the WESPYs, First-Team All-Pacific Region, First-Team All-Pac-10, the Gohuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 6, the MVP of the Husky/Nike Invitational and Second-Team Pac-10 All-Academic.

The scholar-athletes will be recognized at the annual All-America Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday, Jan. 14, in conjunction with the 2012 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
