PORTLAND, Ore. --- The No. 18 Washington Huskies came up just short of pulling off a huge upset, hanging tough with the No. 3 Portland Pilots before falling, 1-0, in overtime Friday at the Clive Charles Soccer Complex.

The Huskies closed out their non-conference slate with a 9-2-0 record, suffering their only two losses at the hands of ranked teams in No. 3 Portland and No. 18 Illinois.

Freshman Halley Kreminski made her first appearance in over a month a good one, scoring the overtime game-winner for the Pilots. An announced crowd 3,146 withstood pouring rains all game to watch the Northwest rivals play into extra time. The Pilots (10-1-0) extend their winning streak to nine games with the win.

Kreminski, who had been sidelined since Portland's September 1 game against USC with a pulled hamstring, came off the bench late in regulation and punched in a short cross from Canadian international Sophie Schmidt in the 94th minute to end the contest.

The Huskies played well to stay even with the Pilots throughout regulation. Portland held the advantage in shots, 13-6, with junior Veronica Perez taking four of the Huskies' six tries at scoring.

Junior Alex Phillips played well in goal for the Huskies, making four saves in regulation.

The contest was the final non-conference match of the season for both schools. Washington continues its difficult stretch with games at USC and UCLA next weekend.
