SAN LUS OBISPO, Calif. - Senior midfielder Erin Bailey scored the only goal 15 minutes into the game to lift the Washington women's soccer team to its first victory of the season, a 1-0 decision over Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo at Mustang Field.

Bailey received a pass from Jana Wilson (South Kitsap HS) at the top of the goal box and one-timed a low shot into the net at 15:15. Husky freshman Caroline Putz, a two-time Parade prep All-American out of Bountiful (Utah) High School, was also credited with an assist after drawing Cal Poly goalkeeper Sonja Baczinski out of the goal and passing to Wilson.

Sophomore Leslie Weeks made three saves and registered the shutout for Washington (1-1). Baczinski had four saves for the Mustangs who matched the Huskies shot total of 11.

Cal Poly (0-3) nearly notched the equalizer in the 79th minute, but a shot by Mexican National Team member Gina Oceguera hit the crossbar.

Washington continues its three-game California road trip, playing against second-ranked Santa Clara on Friday.
