GymDawgs Fifth In Pre-Season Pac-12 Poll

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - In a polling of the Conference's eight women's gymnastics coaches, UCLA was voted the preseason favorite to win the 2013 Pac-12 regular season, the Conference announced today. The Washington Huskies were picked fifth out of nine teams in the league that compete in the sport.

The Bruins, the defending Pac-12 Champion received 46 points and four first-place votes were voted second in the national preseason coaches poll. UTAH tallied 44 points and received the remaining four first-place votes are tabbed second. The Utes also made an appearance in the national poll grabbed the fifth spot.

Stanford sits in third place with 38 points in the poll. The Cardinal ranks sixth in the nation in the preseason poll. Oregon State is slotted fourth in the Pac-12 poll with 31 points and boast a ninth place in the national poll.

The second half of the poll is led by Washington who claims the 17th spot in the national preseason coaches poll, Arizona is picked sixth, and is the sixth team in the Pac-12 to appear in the national top 25 at 19th. Rounding out the poll, Arizona State and California were picked seventh and eighth, respectively. Both the Sun Devils and the Golden Bears received votes in the national coaches poll.

This is the second year of the preseason coaches poll with UCLA claiming the top spot in the preseason poll last year and were crowned the 2012 Pac-12 Champion. The 2013 season is set to begin Friday, January 4, 2013. Pac-12 gymnastics will be featured 12 times on the Pac-12 Networks, including the 2013 Pac-12 Championships on March 23, 2013.
