Dec. 7, 2011

SEATTLE - Fans will have the first opportunity to see the 2012 UW GymDawgs in action on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Alaska Airlines Arena. The Intrasquad meet will showcase the team, broken up into the Purple and Gold teams. The UW men's club gymnastics team will also participate in the meet.

This is an exhibition meaning that, even though the gymnasts will receive scores, these scores will not be posted or recorded and will not count towards their season numbers. The event kicks off at 5 p.m. and is free to attend.

A silent auction will take place once the doors open at 4 p.m. and close after the second rotation. Winners will be announced up in the Founder's Club during the fifth event. Items that will be available in the silent auction include: two UW men's basketball tickets, a signed men's basketball, a signed women's basketball, a signed football by Coach Sark, a signed softball, two leotards, one week at GymDawgs Summer Camp, one training table with the team, a chance to watch practice and take a photo with the team, guest coach at a meet, birthday party at a meet, to help with awards at a meet and several other UW Gymnastics items.

The fifth event happens after every home UW meet where all fans are invited upstairs to meet and greet with the team, take pictures and get autographs.

The Purple team will be the home team and start on the vault, move to bars, beam and then floor. It features senior Ruby Engreitz, juniors Paige Bixler, Kylie Sharp, Anna Epps and Phoebe Tham, sophomore Aliza Vaccher and freshman McKenzie Fetcher.

The Gold team will be the "visiting" team in the meet and start on bars, then go to vault, floor and beam. Senior Amanda Cline, juniors Lauren Rogers, Hatsune Akaogi and Meg Whitney along with freshmen Madison Podlucky, Jaclyn McCartin and Doris Lynk make up the Gold team.

There will be no live scoring, chat or video streaming for the event.

Go Huskies!
