SEATTLE - Entering her fifth season as head coach of the Huskies gymnastics program, Joanne Bowers announced the three captains for the 2011 squad.

The only three seniors on the team, Haley Bogart, Kristen Linton and Samantha Walior will be this season's leaders.

"All three young women were in our first recruiting class and have come in here and tried to help us get this program back up to the national level," Bowers said. "We went from being 48th in the country when we first arrived, to 23rd this past year."

Bogart (Woodside, Calif.), qualified for the NCAA Championships her freshman season by placing fourth in the all-around at the NCAA West Regional. At the NCAA Championships that season, she scored a career-high 9.775 on the bars. She also earned Second-Team All-Pac-10 honors on the vault.

From Edmonds, Wash., Linton is coming off of a trip to the NCAA Championships where she finished 21st with a 9.800 on the floor exercise. Wailor (Prior Lake, Minn.) joined Linton at the NCAA Championships a year ago as she finished 38th on the floor with a 9.525. The two tied for the title at the NCAA Regional on the floor with scores of 9.900 each, career-high marks for both of them.

"All three have qualified on to NCAA National Championship as individuals and have done everything to convince me they are ready for the challenge of leading this team." Bowers added. "We have a great team of young women, who all care about each other and this program. We are on the brink of a breakthrough season and I know these captains will put everything they have into making this year something special."
