Husky Gymnastic Team Advances to NCAA Regional

Seattle - The Washington women's gymnastics team will compete at the NCAA South Regional at the University of Nebraska for a chance to go to the NCAA Championships. The six-team event will be held April 7 at 7 p.m. CST at Nebraska's Devaney Sports Center.
Penn State, Oklahoma, Arizona and Illinois will join the Huskies and Cornhuskers. The top two teams from each of the six regional championship sites will advance to the NCAA Championship to be held at Georgia, April 19-21.
Washington jumped to No. 15 in this week's GymInfo Collegiate Rankings following last Saturday's school-record performance at the Pac-10 Championships. The Huskies scored 197.475 to place third at the conference meet. Nebraska tops the regional field with a national ranking of No. 3. Penn State is ranked 10th, Oklahoma is ranked 19th and Arizona is ranked 23.
Washington's Stacy Wong, who set a school record in the all-around at the Pac-10 Championships with a score of 39.725, is ranked 24th nationally this week. Wong is ranked 15th on balance beam.
This year's regional will mark the 20th consecutive year Washington has qualified for a NCAA regional championship.
