Engreitz Named Pac-12 Gymnast Of The Week

WALNUT CREEK, Calif. –Washington senior Ruby Engreitz and Utah senior Cortni Beers have been awarded Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week and Pac-12 Special Performance of the Week honors, respectively, for the week of Jan. 23-29, Commissioner Larry Scott announced today. Senior Ruby Engreitz led her Washington squad to the upset victory over then- No. 1 UCLA, 195.350-194.600. The Kirkland, Wash., native set a new career-high on the floor, winning the event with a 9.875. Engreitz also set a new season-high in the all-around competition, winning the event with a 39.325. Setting new season-highs would continue to be a theme for senior, notching a 9.800 on vault, 9.850 on bars and a 9.800 on the beam. This is the second such honor of her career as she earned Pac-10 honors in Feb. of 2011. Engreitz was also named the GoHuskies.com Student-Athlete of the Week this week and a Primetime Pacemaker by College360.com. Beers, a native of Tulsa, Okla., helped the Ute gymnastics team earn its highest score since the 2009 NCAA Regionals in a 197.550-194.450 win over BYU in front of over 15,000 people. Beers captured her first all-around win of the season with a career-best 39.575. She also won the floor with a 9.925 and tied for first on the bars with a score of 9.900.
