BERKELEY, Calif. - Coming off of their best score of the season last weekend at home, the No. 24-ranked UW gymnastics team took that momentum on the road in the final dual meet of 2012. UW posted its second-straight score above 196, defeating Cal 196.250-191.775.
As a team, the Huskies posted season-high on beam (49.100) and floor (49.175) while also getting high scores of 48.850 on vault and 49.125 on bars.
"We are on a good roll right now and peaking at the right time," said head coach Joanne Bowers. "It was a good team effort and I'm very proud of them all."
Individually, the Huskies took the top six spots on vault, top two on bars, top five on beam and top six on floor. There were just two all-around performers in the meet and freshman McKenzie Fechter (Mequon, Wis.) won her second all-around title of the year with a 39.225.
Fechter tied teammate Lauren Rogers, a junior from Plains, Pa., for the vault title with score of 9.800.
Rogers also tied for the floor title with senior Ruby Engreitz (Kirkland, Wash.), scoring a 9.875. This scored tied a new career-high for both gymnasts on the event.
