• PGA TOUR Q-School Leaders A pair of former Husky men's golfers are competing at Q-School this week in Palm Desert, Calif., while Anya Alvarez is trying to earn her tour card in Daytona, Fla. at the LPGA Final Qualifying tournament this week. So far, Richard Lee is in the best position among the trio of Husky alums fighting for their cards. Lee shot an amazing 8-under 64 on the TPC Stadium Course on Saturday and moved up 29 spots on the leaderboard. He is tied for second out of 168 competitors at 17-under overall (66-67-74-64-271). Lee will enter Sunday's fifth round two strokes off the lead and will have 36 holes left to see if he can hold onto one of the 25 coveted top spots that ensures a 2013 TOUR card. Alex Prugh had his best day so far of the tournament with a 4-under 68, but is only even overall and is tied for 135th. The top-25 players and ties earn cards for the 2013 season, while the next 50 players and ties earn spots on the Web.com Tour. Lee is one shot off the current mark for PGA Tour cards. Across the country in Florida, Anya Alvarez is trying to earn her LPGA TOUR card at the LPGA International course in Daytona. Alvarez shot 2-over 74 on Saturday and is now 5-over (75-75-69-74-293). She is tied for 59th with one round left to play. Golfers will play 90 holes over five days at LPGA International, Legends & Champions course. The top 20 players at the conclusion of the event will earn Priority in Category 12. Players finishing in the 21st-45th spots will earn Priority in Category 17. The final round in Sunday. |
