Nov. 24, 2009
SEATTLE - Washington Husky women's golf coach Mary Lou Mulflur announced that two players have submitted their letters of intent and will enroll at Washington in the fall of 2010. Joining the Huskies will be Kelli Bowers (Chelan, Wash./Chelan HS) and A Ram Choi (Surrey B.C./Fraser Heights Secondary).
Bowers is the three-time defending 1A WIAA State Champion. She was one of four Washington golfers to represent the state at the Callaway Junior Worlds at Torrey Pines in San Diego. She also plays basketball and volleyball for Chelan HS and earned first team all-Caribou Trail League as a junior and honorable mention as a sophomore in volleyball, and first-team Caribou Trail League as a junior in basketball.
"Kelli brings a tremendous amount of athleticism to the team," said Mulflur. "She is a great competitor and I am excited about the intensity and passion that she brings."
Choi had a stellar 2009 season which saw her win the B.C. Junior Girls Championship and the Inter-Provincial team competition in the Canadian Junior National Championship. She also was second at the AJGA Payne Stuart Junior Championship, third at the CN Future Links Prairie Championship and won the consolation portion of the PNGA Junior Girl's amateur championship. In addition she has three wins in Northwest Junior Golf Tour tournaments and was MVP of the Fraser Heights Secondary School Golf Team.
"A Ram is a player who definitely has her best golf in front of her," said Mulflur. "She caught my eye with her toughness on the course. A Ram has a passion for the game and that is something you cannot coach"
