Husky Golf Signs Standout Paige Mackenzie
Nov. 17, 2000
Seattle - Washington women's golf coach Mary Lou Mulflur has announced the signing of Paige Mackenzie to a national letter of intent. Mackenzie will enroll at the University of Washington in the fall of 2001.
Mackenzie, whose brother Brock is currently a freshman on the Husky men's golf team, is a senior at Yakima's Eisenhower High School. A National Honor Society member with a 3.97 grade point average, Mackenzie was the 2000 Girl Golfer of the Year for both the Washington Junior Golf Association and the Pacific Northwest Golf Association.
"We are very excited about having Paige in our program," Mulflur said. "She will really fit in well with our team. She knows a lot of the girls already from the Junior Golf program and is both an outstanding student and athlete. She will also be joining her brother in this program which will be a great experience for both of them."
Mackenzie was a first-team All-Big-9 selection her first three seasons at Eisenhower and in 1999 received the Joan Teats Inspirational Award, named after the founder of Washington Junior Golf. She posted five top-10 finishes in national tournaments, claiming one championship, and competed in last year's U.S. Women's Amateur Championships.
