Nov. 1, 1999 Las Crucas, NM - Senior Andrea Cordova fired a 71 to lead the Huskies to a first place standing after the first round of play at New Mexico State's Roadrunner Golf Invitational. Washington combined for a team total of 294 over the par 72, 6,117-yard University Golf Course. New Mexico State is back two strokes and 8-over par in the second place slot with 296. Texas Tech's Priscillia Hunt is the leader in the 20-team field after taking 70 strokes over 18 holes. Jordon Lintz of Wyoming is in third after Washington's Cordova with a score of 72. Kelli Kamimura came in second for the Huskies in a tie for fourth after carding a 73. Freshman Louise Friberg stepped up with a solid score of 37 and the front and back nine for a total of 74. Elisha Au finished the first round in a tie for 25th with 76 strokes. Freshman Michelle Grafos is in the 76th slot with a total of 82 in her first outing as a Husky. "Things finally fell into place for us," said Washington Coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "Andrea has been working hard and was finally rewarded."
