KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - After their second consecutive third place finish, the Husky Women's Golf team heads into the Mercedes-Benz SEC/Pac-12 Challenge on a roll.

Washington set a team record in a 54-hole tournament by shooting 847 (-5) at the Stanford Intercollegiate last weekend and freshman Soo Bin Kim shot the lowest score ever by a Husky over three rounds with a 13-under 200.

The performance boosted Washington from 38th all the way up to No. 9 in the latest Golfstat.com rankings. Kim's win - the fourth ever by a Husky freshman - propelled her to 40th in the individual rankings.

This week's tournament, hosted by the Tennessee Lady Vols, will challenge the Dawgs in terms of their adaptability to their environment as well as to their skill. The field will be comprised of 23 teams, 11 from the Pac-12 and 12 from the SEC. Including Washington, remarkably eight teams are currently ranked in Golfstat.com's top-10.

Besides Washington, the following teams are all playing in the Mercedes-Benz SEC/Pac 12 Challenge (Golfstat.com rankings in parentheses): Alabama (6), Arizona (22), Arizona State (8), Arkansas (46), Auburn (2), California (20), UCLA (1), Colorado (24), Florida (12), Georgia (15), Kentucky (23), LSU (4), Mississippi (36), Mississippi State, Oregon (13), Oregon State (50), South Carolina (20), Southern California (10), Stanford (42), Tennessee (27), Vanderbilt (7), and Washington State.

Coach Mary Lou Mulflur will go with the same line up as the Stanford Intercollegiate consisting of Kim, Cyd Okino, Kelli Bowers, Sadena Parks, and Jennifer Yang.

This three day, 54-hole event will be played on Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn. from Oct. 21-23.

Holston Hills Country Club will be played as a 6,447 yard par-72 and is considered one of the most classical tests for the competitors. Opened in 1927 and designed by Donald J. Ross, the course has been praised by both Golf Magazine and Golfweek Magazine, placing Holston Hills among the top 100 courses in the country. A history of competition will also bring a sense of prestige to the competitors. Over the years Holston Hills has hosted the Tennessee State Amateur, Southern Amateur, NCAA Championship, and the Tennessee State Open just to name a few.

Tee times will start at 9:30am on Oct. 21st and 22nd. There will be a shotgun start on the 23rd beginning at 10:30am.

Live scoring for the tournament will be available at Golfstat.com.
