USC Leads Edean Ihlanfeldt Golf Invitational Washington In Third Place After Opening Round of Play

Redmond, WA - Defending champion USC leads the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational by 12 strokes after the first round of play. The Trojans shot a four-over par 292. Pepperdine is in second place with a score of 304 followed by Washington at 305. Stanford's Stephanie Keever and USC's Nicole Dalkas are tied for first place after shooting two-under par 70 at Sahalee Country Club.

The tournament was delayed for two hours and 30 minutes shortly after play began due to lighting.

Washington's top performance was turned in by Jamie Michaud, who shot a 71. Michaud, who is tied for third place, was competing as an individual and her score does not count towards the Huskies' team total. Washington had a trio of players shoot 76 to tie for 15th place. Kelli Kamimura recorded a score of 77.

"You have to be happy when you are playing the next day in the final group," says Husky coach Mary Lou Mulflur. "I'm just glad we were able to get in a full round today with the weather. That should improve tomorrow and I think you'll see some better scores. We had some solid scoring today, but we need some people to break out and post some better numbers. USC was just great today. You can't say enough about the round they had considering the condition."

The second day of play begins at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at Sahalee.
