Yang-Jutanugarn scorecard

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Husky sophomore-to-be Jennifer Yang battled tough against the No. 2 ranked amateur in the world during match play at the 112th U.S. Amateur Championship on Wednesday, but ultimately fell 3 and 1 to Ariya Jutanugarn in the round of 64.

Jutanugarn drew first blood on the first hole when Yang (Coquitlam, B.C.) bogeyed, but the UW up-and-comer regained her composure and evened the match with a birdie on No. 2. Jutanugarn, from Thailand, won the next two holes to go up two, but Yang once again fought back. Yang wrapped up the front nine by birdieing No. 8 and squared the match when Jutanugarn bogeyed the ninth hole.

The match remained even until the 13th hole when Jutanugarn birdied and Yang parred. She would never let Yang back into the match after that.

Jutanugarn birdied the par-3 14th hole to extend her lead to two and clinched the match on the 17th hole when Yang carded a bogey.

Go Huskies!
