CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Washington's Jennifer Yang, who will be a sophomore this fall, and Sadena Parks, who just wrapped up her Husky career this past June, are both competing in the 112th U.S. Women's Amateur Championship at The Country Club in Cleveland, Ohio this week, Aug. 6-12.

In Monday's first round, Yang shot a 2-over 74, while Parks shot 7-over 79. Yang is tied for 48th, while Parks is tied for 113th.

Yang shot a 3-over 39 on the front nine, but was 1-under 35 on the back nine. She had a relatively consistent round that included two birdies, two bogeys and a double bogey.

Parks round included a 38 on the front nine and a 41 on the back. She had just one birdie during the round.

The top 64 players after 36 holes of stroke play will advance to match play, starting Wednesday. Match play will be televised on The Golf Channel.
