POWELL, Ohio - Kelli Bowers and Jennifer Yang shot a 6-over 78 to end up tied for 19th after the first round of the 3rd Annual Pure Silk Women's Collegiate Team Championship at Wedgewood Golf & Country Club in Powell, Ohio. During the opening round alternate shot format, the Husky duo tallied two birdies, but also had four bogeys and a pair of double bogeys. Ashley Armstrong and Kristina Nhim of Notre Dame hold a three shot lead over the 54 team field at 3-under. They are the only team that broke par. Teams return to action on Wednesday morning for the second day of the Championship with tee times set to begin at 8:00 a.m. playing in a best ball format. The format of the Championship is Day 1 (July 31): Alternate Shot; Day 2 (Aug. 1): Best Ball; and Day 3 (Aug. 2): Aggregate Score of the two players. Teams are comprised of players from all levels of collegiate golf including Division I, II and III programs. |
