UW Grads Mackenzie, Alvarez To Play In LPGA U.S. Open

KOHLER, Wis. - Both Anya Alvarez and Paige Mackenzie, graduates of Washington, will compete in this week's LPGA U.S. Open, starting Thursday and running through Sunday at Black Wolf Run in Kohler, Wis. Mackenzie will make her fourth career U.S. Open appearance, recording a career-best tie for 13th at the 2005 Open when she was an amateur. She was 55th in her last appearance in 2010 and did not make the cut in 2006. Alvarez will be making her second-straight appearance in the U.S. Open. She also competed in the 2011 Open in Colorado Springs, Colo. Alvarez, who was eliminated this week in the Golf Channel's Big Break Atlantis, finish tied for 64th at last year's open. Alvarez will tee off from No. 1 on the 6,954-yard, par-72 course at 7:33 a.m. ET, while Mackenzie will tee off at 1:03 from No. 1. Live stats can be found at LGPA.com: Live Scoring. |
