Freshman Kim Named Second Team All-Pac-12
May 1, 2012
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - Husky freshman SooBin Kim was selected as a second-team member of the 2012 Women's Golf All-Conference squad, Pac-12 Confernence Commissioner Larry Scott announced on Tuesday. Kim (Coquitlam, B.C./Gleneagle Secondary) is the first Husky since Paige Mackenzie (first team) in 2006 to earn a first or second team all-conference nod. She leads the Huskies with a 73.38 scoring average and five top-10 finishes. Kim's scoring average is the second lowest in team history and her number of top-10 finishes has equaled the freshman single-season record, shared by Kelli Kamimura and Kim Shin. Kim has been the Huskies top finisher in 7 of 11 events, including a recent 12th-place finish at the Pac-12 Championship. She also earned the only Husky individual victory this season, shooting a school record 13-under 200 to win the Stanford Intercollegiate in October. Her victory helped UW set a team record for lowest score in school history: 277 (-7). Kim and the Huskies will head to State College, Pa. to compete in the NCAA East Region of the women's golf championship from May 10-12. Washington is the No. 10 seed out of 24 schools, with the top-8 finishers advancing to the NCAA Championship in Nashville, Tenn., to be held May 22-25. 2012 Pac-12 All-Conference Team
