SAN DIEGO, Calif. - Washington heads to San Diego, Calif. this Sunday through Tuesday to play in the three-day, 54-hole The Battle at Rancho Bernardo Inn at the par-72, 6,312-yard Championship Golf Course. The tournament begins Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m. but could be adjusted due to expected inclement weather. Washington, ranked 17th in Golfstat.com's ranking, will get a boost this week with the return of senior Sadena Parks to the lineup. The Bethel, Wash. native missed the first two events of the spring to concentrate on graduation, which she is on track to do this June. Parks will acclimate herself back into the lineup at the No. 5 spot. Soo Bin Kim, with five-straight finishes in the top-12 - including four top-6 finishes, will anchor the No. 1 spot for UW. Kelli Bowers coming off an 11th place at the Juli Inkster Invitational will start in the No. 2 spot. Freshmen Jennifer Yang and Cyd Okino round out the Huskies' five. Besides the No. 17 ranking by Golfstat.com, the Huskies are 20th in Golfweek.com's poll. Kim is up to 25th among individuals on Golfstat.com and is 24th according to Golfweek.com. Joining the Huskies in the tournament are host San Diego State (No. 41), plus No.'s 6 Arizona State, 15 Arizona, 19 California, 63 Coastal Carolina, 34 Denver, 69 Long Beach State, 62 Miami, 47 New Mexico, 22 Pepperdine, 3 Southern California, 28 Texas, 12 Texas A&M, 39 Tulane and 54 UNLV. |
