ORLANDO, Fla. - Anya Alvarez, who wrapped up her Husky career in 2011, will compete in the Golf Channel's Big Break Atlantis. The series' 17th season premieres May 14 at 6 p.m. PT.

This year's show features an all-female cast that will compete in different golf skills challenges. Shot on location at Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas, one of the 12 women will earn an exemption to a to-be-announced 2012 LPGA tournament and cash.

Alvarez is a rookie on the Symetra Tour in 2012. She qualified and made the cut at the 2011 U.S. Women's Open in Colorado this past summer.

At Washington, Alvarez was a four-year letterwinner and led the team in stroke average three times. She was an honorable mention 2011 All-Pac-10 team member.

This marks the third golfer with Husky ties that will appear on the show. Current UW assistant Andrea VanderLende and former Husky player Amber Prange both appeared on Big Break X in 2008.
