Ninth-Ranked UW Headlines Juli Inkster Field

SEATTLE -- Washington is the top-ranked team competing this Monday and Tuesday in the 14-team Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational, hosted by San Jose State University at the Almaden Golf and Country Club. The No. 9 ranked Huskies lead a field that includes three other top-20 ranked teams. Besides Washington, No. 13 UC Davis, No. 14 Stanford and No. 17 North Carolina State. Also competing in the two-day, 54-hole tournament are defending champion California (41), Colorado State (120), Fresno State (93), Idaho (100), Kansas State (69), Oregon (38), San Francisco (138), San Jose State (62), Santa Clara (149) and UC Irvine (66). Coach Mary Lou Mulflur will go with a lineup consisting of three sophomores: SooBin Kim, Jennifer Yang and Cyd Okino, and a pair of freshmen, Charlotte Thomas and Ying Luo. Kim is the highest ranked Husky individual, checking in this week at nine on Golfweek's latest rankings. Thomas is also among the top-50 ranked golfers at 33rd. The Huskies are coming off a third-place finish at the Westbrook Spring Invitational. It was their best finish in three spring starts after two wins and two second-place finishes during the fall. The tournament at the par 72, 6,180-yard course begins Monday morning with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start with the second round beginning at the end of the first.
