Women's Golfers Card Season-Low

VALLEJO, Calif. - Kelli Kamimura shot a career-best 67 in the first round of the Bay Area Classic, helping No. 13 Washington to a second place finish after one round of the 36-hole tournament. Pepperdine leads the contest after shooting an opening-round score of 289 at the Blue Rock Springs Golf Couse Monday, three strokes better than Washington (292).

Kamimura, the nation's sixth-ranked player, recorded five birdies en route to a 4-under par effort on the par-71, 5,900-yard track. Elisha Au fired a 74 and is tied for sixth, a single-stoke ahead of Paola Bellotti, who is tied for 10th. Jennifer Stapleton rounded out Washington's scoring with a 76. UW's 18-hole score of 292 is a season-low.

California is in third place, 12 strokes back of Washington. Weber State and Colorado State round out the top-five.

The tournament will continue with 18 holes tomorrow beginning with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
