Feb. 26, 2001 Vallejo, CA - After the first day of the Bay Area Classic at Hiddenbrooke Golf Course in Vallejo, CA the Washington women's golf team, led by first round leader Kelli Kamimura, is in the lead with a score of 299. The Huskies hold a 10-stroke lead over second-place San Diego State. Kamimura won the event in 1999, shooting 142 (67, 75). Washington freshman Lindsay Morgan is three stroke behind Kamimura after shooting a 72 on the first day of play. Morgan's round was her best as a collegiate. Co-host California (310) is in third place followed by co-host San Francisco (323) and Weber State (329) on the Arnold Palmer Signature 5,850 yard par 72 course. The final round of the tournament begins with an 8:30 shotgun start on Tuesday.
