Women's Golf Hits The Links For Some Spring Training

PEORIA, Ariz. -- The Husky women's golf team heads to warmer climates this week for the Westbrook Invitational at Westbrook Village Golf Course in Peoria, Ariz., the spring training home of the Seattle Mariners. Washington, ranked ninth by both Golfweek and Golfstat.com, are among 13 teams competing in the two-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by the University of Wisconsin. Joining the Huskies and Badgers are No. 7 Arkansas, No. 14 Texas Tech, Mississippi State, Washington State, Kansas State, Iowa, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Colorado State and Nebraska. Coach Mary Lou Mulflur has a lineup consisting of all sophomores and freshmen this week. Sophomores SooBin Kim, Cyd Okino and Jennifer Yang will be joined by redshirt-freshman Monica Huang and freshman Charlotte Thomas. Kim enters the tournament ranked 9th among all individuals, while Thomas is 31st. The field will play 36 holes on Sunday, Feb. 24, followed by 18 holes on Monday. Play will commence on Sunday with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. PT. This is the third tournament this spring for Washington. The Huskies finished 9th at the Northrup Gumman Regional Challenge and 4th at the Peg Barnard Invitational. Live scoring is available on Golfstat.com.
