Women's Golf Finishes 18th at NCAA Championships

MADISON, Wisc. -- Washington's women's golf team finished in 18th place at the NCAA Championships after carding 314 Saturday in the final round of the tournament. The Huskies shot 1229 for 72-hole tournament held at University Ridge Golf Course in Madision, Wisc. Arizona State took the team title, firing a 3-over par 1155 for the tournament, 18 strokes better than second place Florida.

Freshman Elisha Au led the Huskies in the final tournament of the season placing tied for 42nd overall. Au carded a team-best 76 in the final round to finish with 303 for the tournament. Andrea Cordova finished tied for 62nd with a 308. Freshman Julia Smith finished off the tournament with a 78 in the final round to finish with 314, in 82nd overall. Paola Bellotti and Jennifer Stapleton finished 85th and 87th, respectively.

The Huskies dropped one spot on final day of play, slipping three strokes behind 17th place !new Mexico State. Washington was as high as 15th after the second round of play. The Huskies finished 18th at last year's NCAA Championship in Columbus, Ohio. Washington's total of 1229 was its best total ever in an NCAA Championship.

Arizona State continued its domination of the NCAA Championships winning its second-straight and sixth team title in the 1990s. Southern California's Jennifer Rosales won the individual title with a 9-under 279.
