Pac-10 Women's Golf Championship Underway

RANCHO SANTA MARGARITA, Calif. -- The Washington women's golf team fired a 15-over par team score of 303 in the first round of the Pac-10 Championships on Monday to finish the round in fourth place. No. 3-ranked Arizona leads the tournament after a 2-over 290 in round one, six strokes better than second place Arizona State.
Washington was led by Jennifer Stapleton who carded a season-best 74 on the 6,120 yard Tijeras Creek Golf Course. Stapleton carded 37 on each side of the par 72 course in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. Freshman Elisha Au finished the round tied for 13th with a 75. Andrea Cordova finished in a tie for 17th with 76 and Paola Bellotti rounded out the Washington scoring in 26th with a 78. It was the first time this season all Washington's players carded scores in the 70s in one round. Arizona's Jenna Daniels carded a 3-under par 69 to take the early three-stroke lead individually.
The second and third rounds of the Pac-10 Championship will be played Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.
