UW Women's Golfers Improve at Spartan Invite

MONTEREY, Calif. -- The Washington women's golf team shaved 20 strokes off of its total from the first round of the Spartan Inviational, carding 328 during Tuesday's second round. The Huskies also moved up one spot to tenth place, leading Brigham Young by two strokes. Mendy Cooper leads the Huskies in a tie for 15th place. She carded 81 on Tuesday to bring her 36-hole total to 161. Paola Bellotti, Elisha Au, Sue Lippitt and Kim Yabe all improved their first round scores on the 6,200-yard, par 74 Bayonet Golf Course in Monterey, Calif. Arizona leads the tounament with 633 over the 36-holes, Arizona State trails by two. The 54-hole tournament concludes with the final 18-holes on Wednesday.
