UW Tied For Seventh Heading Into Final Round Of UNLV Spring Invite

BOULDER CREEK, Nev. - Washington's Christina Yoon shot an even-par 72 to lead the Husky women's golf team during the second round of the UNLV Spring Invite at Boulder Creek Golf Club, Tuesday. The Husky sophomore is 1-over 145 overall and tied for 16th on the individual leaderboard heading into Wednesday's final round. As a team, Washington shot a second-round score of 9-over 297 and is tied for seventh with Campbell and UC Davis. The Huskies are 14-over 590. Washington State leads the team race as the only squad under par at 2-under 574. The Cougars shot 1-over 289 on Tuesday and hold a three-stroke lead over BYU (1-over 577). Texas Tech sits in third place (2-over 578) and San Francisco is in fourth (5-over 581). After leading the Huskies on the first day, freshman Anya Alvarez slipped back into a tie for 21st shooting a 2-over 74 in the second round. Alvarez is 2-over 146 after carding an even-par 72 in the first round. Freshman Nicole Ferrero shot 1-over 73 in the second round and is tied for 46th at 7-over 151. Sophomore Molly Aronsson is tied for 51st (8-over 152) and freshman Katie Saucier is tied for 64th (10-over 154). Oregon's Cathryn Bristow and Idaho's Kelly Nakashima lead the field at 6-under 138. Bristow carded back-to-back scores of 3-under 69, while Nakashima shot a 4-under 68 in the first round and a 2-under 70 in the second. The top 14 players are under-par for the tournament.
